[Hotel Review] Novotel Bangkok Ploechit Sukhumvit

And of course I once again stalked the Accor 40% Super Sale to secure this place at a superb deal for my 4D3N leisure trip with a slightly different agenda, other than shopping and eating hehe.

Prior to arrival, I had emailed the hotel to enquire about the upgrade in accordance with my Accor Gold membership and responses were prompt – was told they will try their best for me.

Taking Air Asia (not the cheapest ticket as well), I arrived via Don Muang Airport so there was no skytrain – getting into the cab queue and grabbing a cab to the hotel took 1hour and 350THB including the highway toll.

Address – 566 Ploenchit Road, Lumpini, Bangkok 10330, Thailand. Tel: Tel (+66)2/3056000. Website

Price – SGD122++ per night for 3 nights for a Premier room with the Accor 40% Super Sale. An absolute steal given that its the holiday season and hotels in Siam area cost alot more.

Check In – Bell staff was quick to assist with the luggage upon the cab pulling up. I approached the front desk and was asked if I would like to check in at the Premier Lounge on 29th floor instead – of course I would! We were seated to be checked in, and my upgrade to a Junior Suite was confirmed. Yay! So exciting! But as we were starving at 5:30pm, we chose to proceed to have bites and refreshments before going to the room so we wouldn’t faint along the way.

Room – Our Junior Suite 1813 at the corner feels bigger than the 41sqm – totally spacious with a king bed, a sofa, coffee table, a luxurious bathtub, novotel toiletries, separate toilet area and a big closet. TV has sufficient international channels. Very clean – very important.

Novotel toiletries – not a fan but will do for short trips

More about the Premier Lounge – On the top floor (29th), it is one of the rare lounges that I see has both indoors and alfresco areas. Food choices and quality was good, and the menu rotated throughout my 3 nights there. Service was nice but I did noticed the staff was more attentive towards non-asian. Oh well, I’m actually quite used to it. Very good coffee too. Breakfast was also much better than The Square downstairs, which I skipped after the first morning. The mango sticky rice here was so good, it ran out on the 3rd night, just when we developed a craving for it. Shucks.

Location – Fantastic for us who find it too far to walk anywhere. Ploechit BTS was just smack outside the hotel and its 2 stops away from Siam, the main shopping area which sometimes feel too crowded. Getting the 1-day BTS pass at 140THB was the smartest choice of the trip – otherwise prepare to fight through the crowd just to buy one-way tickets.

F&B – Breakfast at The Square was …..not good. But Dee Lounge & Beer Garden was really nicee…..band + beers + bites late at night – the lazy traveller’s definition of chilliing. Haha.

So many accidental cameos

Check Out – A little slow at the Premier Lounge but nothing too bad.

I stayed at Mercure Siam and HI Express on my previous 2 visits but much prefer this property, but only if you secure the 40%. Continue stalking Accor I say.
